Hello, I am

Lisa Rush

I am Canadian.  I live in a small lake town community in upstate NY with my husband, two children and my two Labrador retrievers.  I love to kayak with my children and build sand castles at the beach with my son.

My Studio

My Process  When I start a project I let my initial ideas percolate.  Google image search and Pinterest are my go to for references for my images.  Sometimes I use an idea map to push my story telling ideas.  I make several small thumbnail sketches.  After several thumbnails I decide on my favorite composition.  At that point the fun creative part starts; several rough drawings of pencil on printer paper.  The sketches begin very rough and I tighten them into the final drawing.  After a quick value study I move on.  The image is transferred onto watercolor paper using my light board, and then I paint.
